I strongly believe empathy and writing have a lot more in common than people give it credit for. To understand empathy you have to think outside the box and be able to explore other perspectives. For example, there are two different types of empathy: cognitive and emotional empathy. We tend to appeal more to the emotional empathy when writing because when someone writes they “connect” with what they are writing and they put a lot of emotion and feelings into what they say. Therefore, I can say that the value of Empathy is important when it comes to being able to connect to other people and it is basically like lending a helping hand. Empathy allows us to be considerate and just basically to feel emotions, it is the empathy we have that prevents us from being cold-hearted and allows us to care about other people. Without it, I can advocate that the world would be wayy different and not in a good way.

        Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings with another person. Writing is the activity of putting words in a coherent way in which readers can understand. Writing and empathy are similar in the way that they are tools for communication and understanding each and every person. When a writer, writes about something he or she writes in a way that creates empathy to the subject so there can be a better connection with the reader and the subject. This is the true value of empathy,  it creates a feeling a connection and understanding between the writer and the reader.

How are writing and empathy similar?

Writing can involve a lot of things. For example it can be your professor asking you to write about your experience in something that you did in the past or how you feel about the future. In this case you have to put yourself in that moment and start to remember the things you did around that time or if you have to put yourself in other people’s shoes then you do so, to be able to come up with a remarkable response.

What is the value of empathy?

Empathy can lead into many things. It can make you feel motivated, cooperate, depressed, stressed (based on whether the situation was good or bad) etc. Because you putting yourself in other people’s shoes so you have to involve yourself in what is going on and put in your best because life goes on. Nobody knows what tomorrow might bring. We just have to be grateful because things happen for a reason.

How are writing and empathy similar?

Well, when you write you are expressing your feelings, thoughts and experience. Let’s say you’re writing an story about someone you have to use empathy, put yourself in his/her shoe so you could narrate the story and understand it by their point of view. It’s basically the key to the story because the author gets connected with the character, with their way of thinking, their minds, their actions and everything.

What is the value of empathy?

Empathy has a value in different aspects. It lets you understand what a person might be going through and how they are seeing things different from someone else and you’ll be able to help that person. If someone is doing something you don’t quite understand or something you don’t like that’s when empathy is a good tool to keep peaceful environment.

Idea of Empathy and Its Value
There are many idea’s to what writing is. Writing could be the idea of creating a reality that seems impossible, writing can also be the idea of putting one’s perspective in the forefront for people to critique. Writing could be compared to empathy in the sense of writing to create a better understand on an idea. Creating and writing from a perspective can help others better understand which formulates the idea of Empathy.
The biggest value of empathy, the bigger picture entirely is world peace. The thought that if every human being could empathize with others will mean that everyone could understand each other. Everyone would have an idea of how it feels to be in someone else’s shoes. To have an idea of why they react to certain situations the way they do. To understand and broaden one’s own perspective, to elevate the mind to see things from a different point of view.

Empathy is used as a tool to help us understand and have good idea of certain situations. As we do in writing, we are given a topic and within that topic a person must gather information that can help them come up with multiple solutions to discuss and to write about. When a person has empathy for someone it means they fully have enough knowledge to understand where that certain individual is coming from, thus this is similar to writing because we must be able to fully understand and have a general understanding of the problem given to be able to write about the topic.

Empathy is important because it helps us to be able to brainstorm ideas and come up with solutions to any problem presented. It is good to have empathy for others because it allows individuals to be able to talk to someone and have their full attention, like a shoulder to lean on. No matter what the situation is being able to stop and think about others feelings and circumstances is hard considering how focused we are on ourselves.

Empathy and writing are related because both revolve around coming to an understanding.  When we think about empathy or apply it to a situation, we have to understand the issue first before we go any further.  One has to grasp the issue and try to comprehend it well before coming up with a solution.  When it comes to writing, we have to understand what we are writing about.  We could easily write down anything without it making sense, but in reality what we write down (especially in college with essays and such) has to make sense.  So how could we comprehend what we are writing about?  Not only through research, but using empathy as well.

Empathy holds significant value because when we deal with any issue, we should try to understand it to the best of our ability.  If we deal with an issue and try to come up with a solution without fully understanding the problem in the first place, we wouldn’t be able to come up with the best solution.  It isn’t logical to deal with an issue that one doesn’t fully understand.  That’s why we use empathy to try to comprehend something better, including putting ourselves in other people’s shoes to get a better understanding.

How are writing and empathy connected?

Empathy is known as “the ability to understand and share the feelings of others.” The idea of writing is to be able to express your own thoughts or feelings on paper in a way that readers can also understand and relate. Writing and empathy are connected because they both are an expression and understanding of ones feelings. You can be empathic in your writing, for instance, when you write a biography. In order to write a successful piece on someone’s life you have to first understand it, and then be able to rely the message in such a way that feelings from accounts of that person’s life are relatable.

What is the value of both?

The value of writing and empathy is historic accounts are recorded and understandable. Entertainment is enhanced, such as the difference from reading an okay book and an outstanding book. Both help people understand what goes on in the world from decades ago to the present day. All in all, both builds bridges between individuals by allowing them to understand each others feelings and emotions.

Writing and empathy are similar in multiple ways. For example, they are similar in the way of understanding someone’s circumstances verbally. If someone writes something to you to show how much they understand the situation that you are coming from it relates to empathy because that person was able to put themselves in your shoes to comprehend exactly what you are going through. Writing and empathy are also similar in the way of expressing how someone feels throughout the certain situation that they are going through, which is something that you can express in writing or in person.

Empathy has many values. The value of empathy can be caring for one’s problems or difficult situations. The value of empathy can also be the way we are able to connect with others and share the same experiences in order to show support and the fact that you understand what the person is going through. Empathy can also be looked as something that we all need in life so that as a human being we can feel like we are not alone in this world, fighting against battles or problems that others may have never encounter, so is a good thing to show empathy to others. Showing empathy can also be very helpful in terms of how a person feels within themselves after having a connection with someone else.
