Conclusion

Tenure was introduced to fix the problem of unfair firings of teachers and educators, so they could keep their jobs if they fulfill the specific requirements of it. In fact, tenure wastes a lot of money in teachers making the colleges unable to get modernized and students from learning more important topics. Perhaps tenure may raise the unemployment rate within professors, not giving them the opportunity to keep a job.

Practice Lit. Review

Doctors are prescribing drugs to veterans without actually diagnosing them. Drug addiction is becoming a common problem with people and veterans, doctors should find some other way to treat their patients. They usually have a hard time trying to quit using drugs.

The drug addiction issue is growing and growing everyday more, not only in veterans but in people too. Lawrence (2014) argues in “A Growing Number Of Veterans Struggles To Quit Powerful Painkillers” that doctors treat soldier’s pain with prescribed opiates. They only give them pills as painkillers and as treatment.

Synthesis

Drug addiction has always been an issue in people’s life, destroying them and it’s been  increasing within the years. In Inside a Killer Drug Epidemic: A Look at America’s Opioid Crisis according to the editorial board there has been many deaths for overdose, “Public health officials have called the current opioid epidemic the worst drug crisis in American history, killing more than 33,000 people in 2015”. This is telling us that causes of deaths because of opioid has been increasing in the past years, people have been seeking everytime for more and more. In New Hampshire a large amount of people use drugs. Lately people has been getting cheaper drugs and had been more accessible to it. People get drugs more easily than they could get help that’s why the drug abuse rates has increased. If you call to a rehabilitation center they don’t see you right away they make you wait which is not adequate for someone who is seeking for help (Woodruff, 2016).

Chasing the scream

In Batman’s Bad Call, excerpted from “Chasing the Scream” by Johann Hari, he explains how people could do unusual things and how they struggle when they’re lonely, how addiction is not chemical base but environmental base. One example of this is when he says what Bruce noticed in the rat experiment, “What they discovered was startling. It turned out that the rats in isolated cages used up to 25 milligrams of morphine a day…rats in the happy cages used hardly any morphine at all…” according to Bruce’s experiment being along triggers the need of something/someone, which is why they become addicts, like the lonely rat consumed the 25 milligrams of morphine. Another example is when Bruce compared the experiment done with the soldiers from the Vietnam war with the rat experiment, “…some 20 percent of U.S. soldiers had become addicted to heroin there…The war ended. The addicts came home…95 percent of them, within a year, simply stopped” this shows us that their loneliness during war lead them to consume heroin, they felt empty and in need of something to fill that space up, that’s why when they got home to their families they didn’t feel the need to use drugs anymore. The drugs gave them some sort of comfort and calmer feeling. He also talked about drinking coffee which is a habit and it’s not a chemical hook that you will have the need to consumer it everyday at all times. People with bad and lonely childhood tend to grow up with addiction.

3 ways to speak English

In “3 ways to speak English” by Jamila Lyiscott, she expains how articulate she is by speaking three different languages. An example of this is when she’s talking to her friends “…when I’m on the block I switch it up just because I can, So when my boy says, “What’s good with you son?” I just say, “I jus’ fall out wit dem people but I done!”. She has managed to speak with her father at home and to the boys on the block a different way because she is articulate. This is telling us how Jamila understands everybody else and is able to be understood while she speaks other languages with her professor, friends and family at home. According to Jamila being articulate is when people tend to speak in different ways the same language with different people and being understood.

Empathy

How are writing and empathy similar?

Well, when you write you are expressing your feelings, thoughts and experience. Let’s say you’re writing an story about someone you have to use empathy, put yourself in his/her shoe so you could narrate the story and understand it by their point of view. It’s basically the key to the story because the author gets connected with the character, with their way of thinking, their minds, their actions and everything.

What is the value of empathy?

Empathy has a value in different aspects. It lets you understand what a person might be going through and how they are seeing things different from someone else and you’ll be able to help that person. If someone is doing something you don’t quite understand or something you don’t like that’s when empathy is a good tool to keep peaceful environment.
