DRUGS

Drugs is a substance or medicine which can be given to any living thing
that can cause a psychological effect. Drugs can be addictive and also preventable. America is in a condition where, if Obamacare is being restricted from the system more lives will be lost because the people with opioids will suffer without care. The rate of opioid disorder went low under Obamacare even though, other 420,000 people couldn’t get treated but there has been an improvement as compared to the past years and this brings a good name to the Democrats.

On the other hand, Donald Trump and some Republicans want to take Obamacare out of the system under a “vow”. Richard Frank who is one of the co-authors also says that if Obamacare is repealed, almost 620,000 people will die every year because they are not covered by insurance.Based on CDC’s data in 2015, some states like Massachusetts, Kentucky, West Virginia and New Hampshire were on the top of the drug overdose. Obamacare made a lot of difference to these states when it was being introduced.Trump and the Republicans see Obamacare as too rigid and this might be one of the reasons why they want to repeal it. Trump hasn’t come up with any ideas of helping save the lives of people with opioid and mental disorders.

In these past years there has been big problems about how doctors cure patients using these medicines. But these painkillers and other medicines turned out to be an opioid overdose for some of the patients, so there was a strict warning to the doctors of the type of medicine to give to patients and how they should also take these medications. The chart provided by the CDC shows how patients were dying because of taking these wrong medications. From 1999 to 2015 the date rate is unspeakable and it gives an ugly name to the Health Department. After dealing with these doctors for doing the otherwise it made some people to become addicted to painkiller.

I think Trump should come up with a better solution to eradicate this issue and the doctors should give patients the right usage of medication to lower death rates every year. Because if people get insurance and the people keep dying then is useless.

Why I Write Summary

In George Orwell’s, “Why I Write”, Orwell gives his readers an understanding on how being a lonely child and living through times of war influenced his purpose of writing. For example, Orwell explains that being a middle child of three, along with not having a relation with his father, sparked the start of his literary ambitions. This was because he often made up his own stories and held conversations with himself. He wrote many poems and stories starting from that young age. It wasn’t until he grew up experiencing poverty and becoming aware of the injustice coming from government authority, that he started writing for political purposes. He described wanting to turn political writing into art. “I write it because there is some lie that i want to expose…”, says Orwell. This shows that his main purpose of writing is not only to write about politics, but in an artistic way.

3 ways to speak English

In “3 ways to speak English”, Lyiscott explains how she is able to use articulation in her society in order to change the way she speaks to one another. Lyiscott gives the example Because the English language is a multifaceted oration subject to indefinite transformation.” Which means that the English language can be spoken in many ways. She believes in being able to transform your words and not having to follow the rules depending on the place or person. Depending on the setting she is in or person she is talking to she is able to convert her dialects to whatever accent that best suits for others understanding. For example she states, “when my father asks, “Wha’ kinda ting is dis?” My “articulate” answer never goes amiss, I say “father, this is the impending problem at hand.” Which means that even though her father is speaking broken English, she is able to use articulation to show how she can speak fluently and still have the other person understand. Her background and where she comes from plays a big role on how she is able to adapt to her surroundings. If she is talking to her dad, in a classroom setting, or going in for an interview she will be able to speak with great articulation.

TedTalk: 3 ways to speak English

In Jamila Lyiscott’s: 3 ways to speak English she is trying to make a point by stating that she is ” articulate” . She says she is “a tri-lingual orator” because she has different ways of speaking in a classroom, at home, and when she is with friends. It is so important that she is able to speak these three languages because she is able to challenge these stereotypes of her broken down English by proving that she can also speak properly. This goes back to the idea of her being articulate since she is able to be understood in whichever environment she is put in. This is an important thing to Jamila because she stresses being understood so much and she hopes to break through the ignorance of people. So when she says “Yes, I have decided to treat all three of my languages as equals because I’m ‘articulate” she decides to incorporate all three of her languages as they each have their own rules and can each be seen as proper.

AN ARTICULATE TRILINGUAL ORATOR

Jamila Lyiscott in her speech Tree Way to Speak English explains how she is an articulate person and how she can speak easily and clearly tree different languages and tree different accents. In her speech, she explains how she uses to speak these accents in different comments and different places. For instance, she speaks about English that she daily speaks with friends, which is different from what she speak with family and, which also, is different from what she speak with her colleague. She explains that Americans tend to judge the way others sound (when black people speak broken English, for instance), and thinking that this is not the proper way to speak English properly without knowing that they will sound foolish to the British. She also points out another reason why she is articulate and, that is because, she kind of feels obliged to have these tree accents while her own language has been raped away along the history.

3 ways to speak English

In 3 ways to speak English by Jamila Lyiscott, she explains how articulate she was in her society. An example of her being articulate was when her father asked “Wha’ kinda ting is dis?”My “articulate” answer never goes amiss I say “father, this is the impending problem at hand” which proves to me how fluent she is with other languages. She responds back to everybody who questions in the respective way, this was one of the reason why the lady was baffled. Because she didn’t know a young girl like her can blend into these type of accent.  She switches it up when she’s on the block with her friends because she wants them to be comfortable around her and this makes everybody her more articulate and also makes her accent stronger. Because the more she meets new people the more she expresses herself in these types of English for them to understand. She doesn’t think broken English is a big problem, but she rather thinks her English teacher will look stupid to the British people when she speaks her regular English. Jamila doesn’t wanna be judged about how she speaks because hers was stolen and broken.

Against Empathy summary

the article Against Empathy by Paul Bloom, argue about why empathy is not the only way to solve people’s issues. therefore, we should use another method such as cognitive empathy so that, instead of feeling what people feel or having compassion for others, we could face people’s problems and solves them without having the feeling or compassion. As he states in his article “emotional versus cognitive empathy. Bloom states that, people tend to misunderstand the real concept of empathy, it’s role, and how it can be viewed as an emotional thing. So by doing so,  people blend it with cognitive empathy which is fare away different from Empathy. In his article, he gives example that cover and support his argument. For instance, he gives an example of someone who is drowning in the river and how our first perception or idea is not to feel what this person is experiencing in the river water before we save him or her. But, rather what our moral sense or intuition will reveal to us in a lapse of time to save this person. Another example that shows his against empathy is that, in his article, he states that empathy is personal. We cannot empathize with the whole word at the same time and if empathy has to exist, it has to be individual. One example that illustrates this part is  when he talks about gun violence in Chicago and how people empathizes with the lost without knowing that thousand of murder are committed around the work at the moment.

Why I write

In George Orwell’s essay “Why I write”, the author explains the nature of writing by identifying four main motivational forces and then arrives at conclusion that seeking the truth , which he calls, political purpose is the strongest driver in creating a good book. Orwell describes writing motivators of egoism, enthusiasm, historical impulse and political purpose in how they comprise any writer’s desire to write. He begins by describing his first attempts creating primitive texts and explores the importance of child’s imagination as the foundation for future creations. Orwell continues with his teenage memories of how he became hypnotized by the beauty of words. He suggests that it is impossible to figure out any writer’s current motivation without exploring and understanding their earlier stages. In the next part of the essay he depicts how a writer’s values change over the course of their life and as a result of their experience. He admits that when it happens, the task of connecting artistic expression with political purpose becomes the most challenging aspect of writing. Regardless of the evolving writing motives described, Orwell confesses that there is always a mystery at the bottom of those motives he refers to as the political purpose and without this component the book cannot be good.
