Your first two sentences are the same– work on wordiness! Additionally, there is no need to tell me both articles address the issue of a drug epidemic. Rather, it is much more effective to cite an example from one article, explain its significance and move on to the next article.
As far as APA, remember, the punctuation should go OUTSIDE of the parenthetical. ” “(para. 1).
