deaths caused by opioid overdoses are becoming more common in the U.S. According to the New York Times editorial board (2017) “the opioid epidemic killed more than 33,000 people in 2015.” (p.1). PBS News Hour (2016), suggests that the cheap availability of heroin and other opioids have caused over 300 deaths in New Hampshire alone. it is also expected to hit 400 deaths for last years overdoses. this opioid epidemic is our most pressing public health and safety issue as of right now.

Hi Bernice– remember, we talked about integrating quotes. This means after your quote you REALLY WANT to explain its significance. Part of the reason you might’ve opted out of doing this is because your first sentence (your M sentence) is not analytical. Without analysis in your first sentence, it can be hard to explain a quote’s link to it because it might seem obvious. If you had an M sentence like– “Deaths from overdose are becoming more common because of increased access” well now, you have a claim, something to PROVE.
Additionally, your APA citation is wrong. Here is the corrected version:: According to the New York Times Editorial Board (2017), “The opioid epidemic killed more than 33,000 people in 2015” (p. 1).
